So, what do we do? In my humble opinion, there isn't much we can do. Not to mention, there isn't much I would do if I could. LOL. As much as I almost sat down and cried when one of my pages on this site mysteriously disappeared, I wouldn't have been able to fix it without the same attention from computer experts... btw...thanks Dave and Lee!
They're a lot like children, all these computers. You have to update them, reset them, feed them, take them to the experts when they get viruses; and on and on and on. But more than all that, we love them, they have woven their ways into our lives more than the few mechanical ways listed above. They're the way that we communicate with the rest of the world. They allow us to talk and maintain relationships with lost loved ones, post pictures of newly born loved ones, and meet the new and perfect Mr./Mrs. Right/ Right Now. :) Could there be anything more exciting or enticing or wonderful?
Yes! The real life, physical relationships that we have without computers. The next time you go to lunch, silent the phone and put it up. Talk to the person across the table from you. At supper time, do the same thing, except confiscate all forms of portable technology from the family and turn off the TV. Go outside and enjoy the change in season, love the crisp cool air, and instead of watching the next movie, take to people watching at a park or mall.
Just because we have so many new technological things, doesn't mean that we should set aside the basic joys of life without those wonderful and enticing gadgets. Who knows? Maybe you could meet Mr. Right at church or the supermarket...you know? The old fashioned way... :-)
